Shenyang was shrouded in smog yesterday. According to the data released by the Shenyang Ambient Air Quality real-time release system, 11 PM2.5 monitoring points in Shenyang have reached the severe pollution level throughout the day. For a time, the issue of vehicle exhaust emissions related to PM2.5 has become a topic of concern for delegates. Yesterday, Sun Yibo, a representative of the provincial People's Congress from the front line of enterprises, suggested that our province should take the lead in implementing Euro 4 emission standards for diesel engine vehicles to further reduce the impact of vehicle exhaust on the atmospheric environment.

Sun Yibo said that at present, China's diesel engine cars are the implementation of the European 3 standard, the state plans to implement the European 4 standard for diesel engine cars from July 1 this year, but the recent news of the delay, which is not a good thing for us. If the Euro 4 standard is implemented, carbon monoxide emissions of a diesel engine car can be reduced by 1/4 and PM value by 4/5 compared with the Euro 3 standard. In Dalian, for example, if a 150-kilowatt diesel engine bus operates for 10 hours a day, 1,000 buses can reduce thousands of tons of carbon smoke emissions a day. If you add other construction machinery and other vehicles, the daily reduction in vehicle exhaust emissions is even more amazing.

Sun Yibo believes that in the increasingly severe smog across the country, the implementation of Euro 4 standards for diesel engine cars is only a matter of time. Our province is a large industrial province, the task of pollution reduction is arduous, the earlier the implementation of the standard, the more beneficial to the improvement of the atmospheric environment. He suggested that in the case of the delay in the implementation of the Euro 4 standard, the relevant departments of the provincial government should formulate relevant regulations and methods to advance the Euro 4 standard in the province. At the same time, diesel engine cars that are still running on the road for more than 10 years are replaced by old ones and forced scrapping by means of subsidies and government intervention to improve the increasingly polluted atmospheric environment.
